I do not generally start of my blogs stating this, but this video is 100% LEGIT. The people at the Association of Science-Technology Centers put this demo together, and might I add, they are MUCH smarter than me. Apparently, this video demonstrates "quantum superconductors locked in a magnetic field". I am sure it does, but all I see is a white hockey puck floating in the air. Check out the video below

All of my life, I have been a huge fan of voice actors. I think it is an amazing talent to bring a soulless prop to life and give it personality. Kevin Clash has been in this business for years, doing voices in Dog City, Dinosaurs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and (here's the big one) ELMO. Yes, that Elmo. So how does one just "become" a little red monster? Coming out in October, we have "Being Elmo" a documentary that explains all of that. Narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, you can take a sneak peak at it below.

FIFA 12 Glitches

FIFA 12 is coming out tomorrow, but EA was kind of to release a demo for us early, so the entire world can get a taste of it. The problem is, the demo seems to be riddled with a few glitches. Hidden Gems of E3 2011 (My Picks)

This year's edition of E3 has come and gone very quickly, and looking back there is a lot to look forward to. (Batman: Arkham City, Bioshock Infinite, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, Rage, ect.). Today though, I wanted to focus on the games that look to be amazing, but may have been missed. So here are my hidden gems of E3 2011

Rayman Origins (Wii, Playstation 3, X-Box 360)

Have you ever watched a cartoon and thought, "Dude... This would be awesome to play"... Well, that is what you are getting with Rayman Origins. This time, Rayman is on a brand new adventure, and without the crazy Rabbids. The animation of this game look so smooth and solid, it is almost like you are watching something on Teletoon.

Ms. Spolsion Man (X-Box Live Arcade)

In the 80's, Namco realized that they had a massive hit with Pac-Man, so when it came to release a sequel, they decided that rather then doing the cliché and throw a "2" at the end of Pac-Man, they went a different direction and gave us Ms. Pac-Man. Flash forward almost 30 years later, and Twisted Pixel is doing the same with the sequel of 'Splosion Man, and giving us Ms. Splosion Man. She is as lovely as she is explosive, and will be coming to you by the end of this year...

WipEout 2048 (PlayStation Vita)

One of Sony's big reveals at this E3 was the complete unavailing of their next portable gaming system, the PlayStation Vita. Set to release this winter, this game makes an excellent launch title. WipEout is a game that might not push the most pixels onto to your tv, but it does not need to. The artistic design is extremely vibrant, and at times jaw dropping. As a nice bonus, the series is fun, addicting, fast-paced, and all those other good things that publishers like to stick on the box of their games. If you have never experienced WipEout, and you are planning on getting the Vita, make sure to look for this one...

Bastion (X-Box Live Arcade, Windows)

With games like Halo, Splinter Cell, Just Cause 2, you are often sent into areas very much alone, with no one to comfort you at all. That is fine and dandy, but sometimes, you just want a friend by your side that will NOT get in the way. Player meet Narrator. In Bastion, he will follow you as you go, watching over you, and telling you, your story while you play. This one is set to release in a few months as apart of this years Summer of Arcade. SSX (Playstation 3, X-Box 360)

SSX is back, BABY!... and this time, it is getting a little more airborne. Portal 2 (Insert Girlish Scream Here)

As you may or may not know, I like video games... A LOT... One of the games that actually got me very excited to get back into gaming was Portal (if you have not played it, click here). It was a puzzle game in first person, with a computer overlord watching and reacting to your every single accomplishment, which you do not see every day :P...

A Musical Wonder and A Musical Blunder

In case you have never heard of the uncanny, let me us an explanation used in 30 Rock...

We are talking about the team that gave us the Toy Story franchise, as well as other favorites such as Monsters Inc., Wall-E, The Incredibles... The list goes on and on, but one of my favorite gems from them, that often gets less attention is "Up"... I am not sure how you cannot love this movie. If you are dog lover, you instantly form a bond with Dug, he is just THAT loveable.

Anyways, after watching the movie, you probably are thinking to yourself... Hmm... I wonder if you could take a house to the clouds using only helium filled baloons... Well, here is the answer to that question...

Rock, Paper, Scissors is quite possibly one of the oldest games in the world. I am actually guessing this, but I could easily imagine on their downtimes seeing David and Jonathan play this when David was not being chased down by Saul.

So, we come to the year 2011, where we have Watson the super trivia computer, we also have the NYTimes claiming they have the "ultimate" device in beating you at Rock, Paper, Scissors.

The weather is getting nicer. Baseball spring training is here. It is official, we are in the last days of winter, and with that comes Golfing season. Now, I am not going to lie, I am pretty awful at golf. Let's go with a major lack in hand-eye skills, but me and the little white ball are not friends. However, there is one thing that I have always wanted to do, and that is to Happy-Gilmore a ball, aka taking a running start and slapshot the ball... I have always wanted to know if this would work, so to find out, I went to the scientists...

Real or Fake: Water Trick

I came across this video the other day, and it was from a "trusted" source saying that is in fact "real". After watching it, I of course believed them because it looked so realistic that it "HAD TO BE TRUE"... Watch the video and tell me if you think it is true...

So here are my pro's and con's of the video.

PRO's

Just look at it. It looks SO REALISTIC

There are also plenty of comments from YouTube and Fark (the source I got it from) saying that others have tried it and it very much works

This was also played on ESPN2, however one of the analysts were also skeptical

There is over 6,000 likes for it on YouTube combared to less then 700 dislikes

Cons

The fact the person who posted this has posted AMAZING works in Computer Generated Graphics, makes me more skeptical

There has been hundreds of people who have claimed to have done it, BUT they have not posted a picture or video as proof

A lot of the commenters crying "FAKE" are using these things called "logic" and "science" to disproof this

Some people have mentioned that in the "success" video, he spins one way, but in the "fail" videos, he spins the other, which makes it for whatever more suspicious

Ultimately, the only way we find if it is real or not is to have the MythBusters take a crack at it. For they are the only ones who can find out :p

Basketball Skills??

The thing about basketball, it takes major skill and things to go the right way. You take a shot, and it can bank of the rim and down, or rattle, and come completely out. The basketball can be unpredictable at times, and sometimes, as you see in these videos, that can be a good thing

...and the biggest kicker... This was in overtime. Potentially, the game winning basket was made on a play, that you CANNOT plan for. On the other side, the defence did it's just and that was to prevent the ball from reaching the opposing team.

2000 vs. 2010: Sometimes A Graph tells a Thousand Stories

I was browsing the internet, I fell into an article that io9.com had posted, and it was where we were ten years ago compared to today. There are few stats that stand out, like Cell, Internet, Population, etc, but there are a few gems in there.

Back in 2000, movie box offices were actually bringing in MORE people then they are today. Think about that. With movie tickets inflating so much these past years, especially with this push for the more expensive 3-D ticket, you are seeing people take movies home to them. Wether it be getting the Blu-Ray/DVD, renting, or streaming through Netflix, we are using our homes as the preferred theatre.

The other stat that jumped out to me, is that even with the boost in the population of the US of A, the amount of power they consume is actually DOWN. I could imagine that would be the same if not more for Canada, but it is weird to think we are becoming more aware of the enviroment and the power we consume. Now looking on the other side of the world, China's power consumption has over doubled what is used to be from ten years ago.

Exhibit A.

This little's fella is called a Northern White Face Owl. By the video, you can tell he means business. What he lacks in strength, he makes up with camoflouge. You can not tell me that the Count Dracula Owl did not give you at least one goose bump

That is correct. You just saw a snake fly through the air. Now, before you start thinking this is an ability that all snakes have... RELAX. This is just a trait that snakes of the Chrysopelea family have. I also realize, that this is not really flying, but to quote Toy Story, "it is falling... with style"

Now, you have seen everything. We generally believe that fireworks were invented somewhere in the 7th century in China, but that would be INCORRECT. This guys have been doing their thing for quite some time. I love the fact that this defence mechanic, does not HELP the dinoflagellates per sé, but just reeks havoc on those who attack

What ever you can do, I can do... while having eight legs? This is the Indonesian Mimic Octopus . It has also been known to mimic seahorses, stingrays, anemones, starfishs, and even mermaids... Ok, maybe that is a stretch, but I would not put it past this eight tentacle wonder

Microsoft would probably LOVE it if they were the ones that invented those loveable emoticons that we have all come to know, but in actuality, it is really these little spiders that have been giving " :-) "'s to all the jungle creatures to see. These guys are called Theridion grallators, and they come in all sorts of colors

Exhibit F

With all of these creatures, their uniqueness actually help them with avoiding predators or catching their prey, this fish on the other hand, not quite the case. Other then to give me nightmares for the rest of the week, I cannot see what having a see-through head serves. This fish is called a Pacific Barreleye Fish and live in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian ocean... which are all VERY far away from me... I am going to stick to normal, non-see through fish, thank-you very much

So the point of this little topic is just when you have seen it at all and think that you can been blown away by any of God's wonderful creatures... BOOM... He creates these animals with some of the most unique abilites to man

So it is no secret, that I have a very warm and special spot inside my heart for Donkey Kong. Wether it was the music of the games, the "revolutionary" graphics, or just the fact that the games were plain fun, I have just loved this series. That's why I am VERY disappointed in myself for not being at the big launch for Donkey Kong Country Returns. It was held in Toronto, and they had a VERY special guest.
